Traditional UV-C systems use mercury or LED lamps to generate UV light at a wavelength between 254-260nm. As a result, UV light at this spectrum is a carcinogenic safety risk for eyes and skin, and it can only be used to treat recirculated air in unoccupied spaces or inside HVAC ventilation. In addition, traditional UV light does nothing to disinfect surfaces within a space. Even after sanitization organisms that were previously inactivated by 254nm UV-C light may reactivate when exposed to blue light present in sunlight, fluorescent light, and other light sources.
Krypton™ lighting emits 200-230nm UV light. It uses inert krypton gas, chloride, bromide to emit UV light with 222nm and 207nm wavelengths. These UV wavelengths are safe for human exposure because they do not penetrate the skin or eyes. As a result, Far UV can continuously disinfect viruses, bacteria, and fungi in occupied spaces. Additionally, unlike other UV-C systems, pathogens inactivated by Far UV light remain inactivated when exposed to sunlight, fluorescent light, or other light sources.
Far UV can kill viruses, bacteria, and fungi in occupied spaces. Krypton light kills microbes by resonating with the proteins in the microbe’s outer membrane, causing it to fail. 222nm Krypton lighting has been proven to be just as effective against the COVID-19 specific strain as other coronaviruses.
When boarding, all drivers and passengers must wear a face covering. While in transit, passengers must continue wearing their masks. Children under the age of ten and those who are medically unable to wear a mask will not be required to do so. Drivers will not be required to wear a mask while driving the vehicle. When transferring to another bus schedule, most interlining carriers are requiring a mask to be worn. If you are transferring, please check that provider’s website to see if a mask is required.
The use of a simple face covering slows the spread of the virus and prevents those who unknowingly have the virus from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings made from common materials can be used as a public health measure in place of face masks. Additional details are available on the
CDC website. We ask our customers who do not have a face covering, or whose coverings are damaged in transit, to speak with their Barons Bus driver or associate and a disposable mask will be provided. While in transit, we ask our passengers to please keep their masks on.
Our motor coaches are cleaned daily by our service team. We have increased the frequency of sanitizing surfaces that people regularly come in contact with including the hand rails for entering and exiting the vehicle, arm rests, driver steering wheel, dash area, head rests, restroom door handles, restroom handrails, overhead compartment handles, overhead handrails, and any other hard surfaces on the motor coach.
We have also proudly installed hand sanitizing dispensers on every motor coach. Barons Bus drivers are encouraged to use the sanitizer every time they enter and exit the vehicle. We encourage you to join us in using the sanitizers every time you enter and exit the vehicle.
