Built during the Civil War, the historic and spooky Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum (formerly Weston State Hospital) remains the largest hand-cut stone masonry building in North America. The facility shut down operations in 1994 as a mental health institution, but the grounds and building are now open to visitors for ghost tours, historical tours, and special events, both private and public.
